Senior Scientist and Lecturer at ETH Zürich
I am a scientist with a multidisciplinary profile, spanning from chemical and materials engineering to environmental and sustainability sciences.
I obtained my Ph.D. in Chemical engineering (2018) from the Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) with honors. During my master’s and Ph.D. thesis, I gained multiple expertise in fabricating and designing hybrid materials and membranes for water purification and CO2 capture.
Then, I joined Prof. Raffaele Mezzenga’s group at ETH Zurich as a postdoctoral fellow to enter the world of soft matter and to extend my fundamental knowledge on protein self-assembly for fabricating sustainable materials for diverse applications.
Since 2021, I have been promoted to a senior assistant (Oberassistent) position, and in this new position, I directed my research more independently toward agri-food circular economy and waste valorization, as well as life cycle assessment.
I have been supervising many Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. students and acted as a lecturer for Agri-food waste valorization as a part of the undergraduate course on the World food system.

- Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
Besides Research?
My fascination with the sea and its mysterious depths knows no bounds. The world beneath the waves, teeming with life in all its forms, captivates my imagination.
Happiness, to me, is synonymous with being enveloped by nature’s embrace. Hiking through the breathtaking landscapes of Switzerland is a particular joy of mine.
I am a backpacker and strive to discover new places and immerse myself in diverse cultures, connect with people, and embrace rich traditions.
When at home, I also like to cook, listen to classical rock and electronic music, watch movies, and read comics.
As a proud plant dad, I care for over 30 species of plants, transforming my home into an ecosystem of life!
